At the end of 2025, we began preparations for a ham radio expedition to Kosovo. The team met regularly online and at the SP2ZIE club in Gdynia. In February 2026, we finalized the list of operators. We submitted an application to the Kosovar regulator for a radio license. We got the call sign Z66SP.
In March, we started testing our devices, configuring the station, and completing the equipment. We chose the SP2YWL club in Wladyslawowo as our logistics base.
We plan to depart from Poland on April 21, 2026. We have approximately 2,000 km to travel to QTH in the Pristina area. The trip will be by minibus. We plan to spend the night on the way, probably in Hungary. On the morning of April 22, we will continue our journey and plan to arrive in Pristina that same day.
Once there, we will visit the Autoriteti Rregullativ i Komunikimeve Elektronike dhe Postare (ARKEP), where we will pick up the original radio license. Then we will head to the QTH and begin setting up the station, including installing antennas and configuring transceivers.
We plan to begin operating on the air on April 23 and continue through April 28. If conditions permit, we may be active in the evening of April 22. We plan to leave on April 29.
See you on the air as Z66SP!
